They are all based on cold-rolled steel sheets. PPGI is pre-coated on cold-rolled steel sheets after galvanizing, and PPGL is pre-coated on cold-rolled steel sheets with an alloy of 55% aluminum and 43.4% zinc. The density of 55% AL-Zn is lower than that of Zn, and it is more cost-effective to use galvalume materials than galvanized materials.
China’s hot-rolled steel coil production has accounted for more than half of the global hot-rolled steel output. In 2020, China’s hot-rolled steel output actually accounted for 53.2%. In the same period, India’s hot-rolled steel coil production accounted for 5.6% of the world’s total output. China’s PPGL steel coil production capacity is larger, and the PPGL factories for cold forming are mainly concentrated in Boxing and Liaocheng. India needs to import PPGL steel materials, so the cost will rise.
The full name of PPGL is pre-painted galvalume steel, also known as color coated steel. PP is short for pre-painted, and GL is short for galvalume.
PPGL Coil is cold-formed and processed into metal roofing by a roll forming machine, which is mostly used in civil buildings. PPGL with wood grain color can also be used for the exterior of doors. There is also a Dx52D PPGL material that can be used for deep drawing processing, such as lamp housings.
When choosing PPGL steel coils, thickness and color are usually considered. You also need to pay attention to the mechanical properties of the substrate, such as yield strength. The weight of the zinc coating of the galvanized steel sheet, the painting performance of PPGL (thickness, powder resistance, durability), and the type of painting, etc.
